STEM Racing team
0.9c STEM Racing
We design, build and race a scaled Formula 1-style model car — from the first CAD sketch to the start line.
Our full website is on its way. Until then, this page has everything you need to find and follow the team.
Who we are
0.9c STEM Racing is a student team taking part in STEM Racing, a global engineering challenge in which teams design, manufacture and race a miniature Formula 1-style car. Cars are judged on design and engineering quality as well as outright speed on the track.
Every part of our car begins as an idea in CAD, is machined and finished by hand, then tested and refined before race day. The project runs on teamwork: design, manufacturing, media and race-day logistics are all shared across the team.
How we build a race car
-
Design
We model the car body in CAD, balancing aerodynamics, weight and stiffness against the competition rules.
-
Manufacture
Bodies are machined and then finished by hand, checking each part against the drawings as we go.
-
Test
We run our designs against each other, compare the results and refine the setup before competition.
-
Race
On race day the car runs against the field, and the team presents the engineering behind it to the judges.
Support the team
We are looking for partners to help with materials, machining time and competition costs. If your organisation would like to back a student STEM team, we would like to hear from you.
